July 5, 2011 - PRLog -- Summer fun is in full swing at Del Sur, where residents recently enjoyed a community concert at the park by the Mar Dels and a family movie night featuring Indiana Jones at the community’s outdoor amphitheater.

“This is a fantastic community, and we try to go to most of the events that are put on,” said Matt Halls, a Del Sur resident watching his son play in the sand while waiting for movie night to begin. The chemist and his family have lived in Del Sur for almost a year and have already enjoyed Snow Day, a Halloween celebration, the Spring Extravaganza featuring multiple egg hunts and a visit to Santa Claus at the Ranch House.

“This community is great for families with kids,” Halls continued. “We really like the park density, with one on each end of our street. We certainly didn’t have anything like this when we were growing up.”

Showcasing six neighborhood parks, five with year-round swimming pools heated with solar panels, the community of Del Sur is being built with a focus on green living and heritage-inspired architecture. Located in the coastal hills of San Diego, the North County community is surrounded by approximately 1,000 acres of open space and miles and miles of trails to explore.

In addition to a nature hike tentatively scheduled for July 30, Del Sur’s upcoming calendar of community events for residents to enjoy also includes:

•   Movie in the Park -- “Sandlot” -- July
•   Movie in the Park -- “Pirates of the Caribbean” – August
•   Concert in the Park -- Atomic Groove – August
•   Movie in the Park -- “Grease” – September
•
“All the community activities help differentiate Del Sur from other communities,” said resident Clarissa Riggins, waiting with friends for the night to get dark enough for the movie to start.

“I don’t know any other neighborhood like it,” continued the mother of twins who has lived in Del Sur since 2007. “I love it here and I try to go to everything. I love it that the school is in the neighborhood and that we see neighbors who are friends and whose children go to school with our children. The school is phenomenal. I can’t imagine living anywhere else.”

The San Diego master-planned community of Del Sur also includes the Poway Unified School District’s top-rated Del Sur Elementary. This summer, as a result of community support from the Del Sur Community Service Council and the commitment of teachers and administrators, a Summer Academy will be held at the neighborhood school. Open to district residents, the enrichment classes will include creative writing, theater arts, computer keyboarding and reading.

Eight new home neighborhoods are now selling at Del Sur, with prices ranging from the high $400,000s to the $700,000s. Some 20 model homes – featuring attached, detached, single-level and multi-story floor plans– are open for tours by top homebuilders, including: Standard Pacific Homes, Shea Homes, William Lyon Homes, California West Communities and Davidson Communities.
