July 15, 2011 - PRLog -- A few serious security flaws have been discovered in Apple’s iOS mobile operating system lately, and at least one of them is getting addressed with a new update.

Last week, it was reported that Germany’s Federal Office for Information Security had discovered a loophole in which malware in the form of a PDF file could open up user’s passwords, emails, text messages, emails and almost anything else stored on the device to the culprits.

Now, Apple has released iOS 4.3.4 to prevent that situation from happening. AppleInsider notes that we shouldn’t expect to see any new features or surprises here as it’s all just business this time. This is just a basic security update.

The iOS 4.3.4 firmware upgrade is directed towards the following GSM devices: iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 2, iPad, and third- and fourth-generation iPod touch. iOS 4.2.9 is also rolling out to Verizon’s CDMA-based iPhone 4s.

Owners of these devices are advised to connect to iTunes and then download and install the update now.
