Irving High Alumni Band returns this September for IHS Homecoming

July 19, 2011 - PRLog -- The Irving High School Band Alumni Association is hosting the organization’s second annual IHS Alumni Band Homecoming Event, Friday, September 30, 2011, at Irving Schools Stadium in conjunction with the school’s annual homecoming celebration:

    This proud, new tradition represents over five decades of Tiger Band alumni gathering in the stadium stands each year to play several traditionally popular songs and drum cadences over the years from the 1960s through today, including the school's Alma Mater and Fight Song.  Last year more than 300 alumni band members returned for the homecoming football game versus Haltom, the only game the Tigers won in their 1-9 rebuilding season.  (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_WbY3A6F_s&feature=player...)



    "We certainly can't take all the credit, but we're convinced the excitement of having the alumni band fill the stands, playing the fight song and cheering on our team, contributed to what hopefully will be many future wins for the young football team," said Mike Grabeel, president and co-founder of the Irving High School Band Alumni Association.  "We can't wait to get back in the stands and play and yell for those guys even louder this year."
