Anchor Vans warns drivers of older used vans to check compliance with new London LEZ

"We're concerned that quite a few of our customers could be caught out by the LEZ changes as many drive into London every day for their work," said Simon Joyce, Sales Director for Anchor Vans. "The daily charge for the extended range of vehicles covered by the LEZ to be driven into the zone will be £200, and the fine is £1000 if unreported, so it makes sense to plan ahead now."

When asked which vehicles in particular would affect their customers, Simon replied; "Larger vans are going to be included from January 2012, those that are 1.205 tonnes unladen, to 3.5 tonnes Gross Vehicle Weight and which were registered before January 2002. So we're talking about Mercedes Sprinter vans and Ford Transit vans, very commonly used by small business owners. I would urge anyone who has a larger used van that fits this description to buy a replacement now, as the demand for newer vans and LPG vans is only going to go up the closer we get to January 2012."
