Motivational Speaker Kelly Swanson Brings Her Humor to Louisiana State National Guard Families

July 22, 2011 - PRLog -- Times are tough right now for many military families - but thanks to motivational speaker Kelly Swanson, they received a welcome break at their July Family Services State Workshop. Volunteers and military families from around the state of Louisiana gathered together for a weekend of learning and fellowship.

Kelly Swanson wrote a customized one-woman show called "When Fairy Tale Meets Reality: How to combine the ideal life with the REAL life" - a show that was delivered in four acts, woven throughout the conference. The show was set on a park bench in Kelly's small town, as she waited on the parade. The audience met Kelly and her wacky southern characters who showed up in each act - sharing their stories, and teaching truths about dealing with stress and change. In the closing act, the parade finally arrived and the audience was given the choice to sit and watch it pass, or join the parade.

Kelly's shows combine the theater experience with the training experience - delivering something radically different - teaching wrapped in theater. One minute you're sitting on the bench watching Aunt Bitsy march through town in her stringed bikini and white pumps - the next minute you're talking to your neighbor about how to let go of what you can't control. It's the perfect blend of entertainment and content.

People laughed until their sides hurt. They cried at the touching stories. They found healing where they needed it most. They got practical answers to help them cope. They walked out ready to take on the world - knowing that what they do makes a difference.
