East Londoners Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby have designed the Olympic torch. He won this opportunity with a competitive tender which was run by London 2012 organising committee and Design council.

You will enjoy the best of British talent with magnificent design, engineering and manufacture. Barber and Osgerby have worked with Tecosim and Coventry, the basildon based engineers Tecosim along with Coventry manufacturers Premier Sheet Metal to develop prototypes of Torch. Mass production of Torches will begin by the end of 2011.

The inner and outer skin of Torch is made up of aluminum alloy. The 8000 circles represent the inspirational stories of 8000 torchbearers who will carry Olympic flame.
