Thames Valley Bahá’ís explore what it means to be generous

Aug. 10, 2011 - PRLog -- They will be taking a multi-Faith approach when they explore the true meaning of Generosity at their prayer and meditation devotional evening on Wednesday 24 August.

The West Berkshire Bahá’ís will be exploring famous quotations from a number of Faiths, including:

•   “Be generous in your days of plenty, and be patient in the hour of loss.  Adversity is followed by success and rejoicings follow woe.” - The Bahá'í Faith, Tablets of Bahá’u’lláh.

•   “Give, and it will be given to you… For the measure you give will be the measure you get back.” -Christianity, Luke 6.38.

•   The gift which is given without thought of recompense, in the belief that is ought to be made, in a fit place, at an opportune time, and to a deserving person – such a gift is Pure.   That which is given for the sake of the results it will produce, or with the hope of recompense, or grudgingly- that may truly be said to be an outcome of passion. -Hinduism, Bhagavad Gita 17.20-21
