Follow on Google News | Big Bad Voodoo Daddy opens Colorado Symphony's 2011/12 Pops season“America’s favorite little big band” partners with Colorado Symphony for concert blending jazz, swing, Dixieland, big-band music and of course, the majesty of the orchestra
Since the band's arrival on the music scene in 1993 in a legendary residency at Los Angeles’ Brown Derby nightclub, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s live show and musically perceptive approach has proven them over time to be the singular standout among the numerous bands that launched the Nineties swing revival. The seven-man group rocketed to stardom when their music was featured in the 1996 independent film Swingers. Their career milestones have included appearances in the Super Bowl half-time show and writing theme music for ESPN. They have appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O’Brian as well as Dancing With the Stars. The Colorado Symphony's concert with Big Bad Voodoo Daddy continues a succession of popular, exclusive collaborations with contemporary and pop/rock artists, including the orchestral debut of GRAMMY® Award-winner Sarah McLachlan at Red Rocks on July 10. For the 2011/12 Pops Series, the Colorado Symphony has more exciting collaborations in store, including the symphony orchestra debut of GRAMMY®-nominated country star David Nail ("Turning Home," "Red Light") on October 8 and a thrilling evening with L.A.'s urban-Latino legends Ozomatli on November 12.
