Cornwall printers report surge in work

Aug. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- Cornwall’s printers are reporting a surge in workloads and are putting it down to the booming tourism industry in the county and across the South West.
As cash-strapped tourists head to the coast for their summer holidays, printers say that tourist attractions are placing large orders for leaflets, pamphlets, flyers and other advertising material to promote themselves over the summer months.
“We are having a good year at the moment,” says Bob Russell, MD at Integral Print Service in Redruth. “We do the printing for Newquay Zoo and Cornish Goldsmiths where we print everything from business cards, brochures, pop-up banners, posters and numbered vouchers. We also do the printing for hotels and guesthouses.”
Martyn Kimmins, owner of Print-Out Printing Services in Truro adds: “We do a lot of work for the Helston Railway Preservation Society. We produce all of their publicity material such as flyers, leaflets and a journal every quarter. I also do printing for the West of England Steam Engine Society in Redruth, which has its 56th annual rally this month (August).”
John Fenton, MD of Phoenix Print in Bodmin says: “We look after all the printing for Linton and Barnstaple Preservation Railway in north Devon. We are the only remaining lithographic printers from Bude to Newquay.”
All three printing firms have each invested in an environmentally-friendly Glunz & Jensen PlateWriter 2000, which removes the need to use chemicals and film in the platemaking process. Peter Swann, UK Channel Manager for Intec Printing Solutions, who sold the systems, says: “I have done a lot of business with printers in Cornwall at the moment. They are doing really well and there is definitely a positive feeling in the region that is sadly lacking up north. Certainly a lot goes on in Cornwall and I’ll be spending my own holiday in stunning Polzeath where I’ll be windsurfing and kayaking with my family.
