Exciting Ping G15 Irons Review

   The technology of the G15 provides the high-launching, maximum-forgiveness benefits that make for more consistent iron play. The stainless-steel-cavity design features a new Custom Tuning Port that expands the perimeter weighting and increases the moment of inertia. Weight savings from a thinner face are moved to the toe for added forgiveness, while the wider sole produces a higher launch angle.

   

   The epicenter of the G15's technological advances is the new Custom Tuning Port ("CTP"). While the G10 had a CTP, PING engineers reshaped and repositioned the CTP to save seven grams. The weight savings of a thinner face allowed the engineers move weight to the perimeter - particularly the toe - to improve forgiveness for off-center hits as well as increase MOI(Cheap golf irons). PING believes that these changes provide the proper structure and support to ensure distance control and solid feel.

   

   For someone that has not played a PING iron in quite a while, setting up to the G15s can be quite a shock to the system. Literally, no matter what angle you look at the club, the wide sole - which is even wider than before - was unavoidable. For some players this is like seeing a mustache on the Mona Lisa. For others, the bulge may be the finishing touch necessary to inspire confidence. This is likely going to be the feature that will determine your disdain or devotion to the G15s. If you look at the specs for the G15 irons and the G10 irons you should notice that PING decreased the loft of every club by one degree. When I went to the range, I was expecting to gain approximately three to five yards of distance with every club. I was pretty satisfied with myself when I literally hit almost every club in my bag three to five yards farther with the G15 than the G10.

   

   The G15 irons are comically forgiving. I tried hitting the ball out of the center of the fairway, the rough, fairway bunkers, pine straw, and mud. The result seemed to be almost the same feel and same trajectory with every shot(Cheap Golf Drivers). There was actually a point where I became so frustrated with the consistency of the clubs that I started dropping balls into a shallow puddle and seeing what the results would be.

   

   The Ping G15 irons face is thinner than previous iron models allowing for substantial weight to be added to the toe of the club – this weight redistribution produces a higher MOI which is obviously the name of the game when it comes to forgiveness on off-centre hits. The sole of the G15 is slightly wider in design which also helps to pull the CG lower and deeper which helps the golfer to get the ball in the air. The Ping G15 Irons are certainly a case of evolution not revolution and Ping have not forgotten the traits that made the G10 irons so appealing to so many people. We liked the G10 irons and we were hopeful that the G15 irons would be even better. And we certainly weren’t disappointed. In our tests the G15 irons were a delight to hit. They were very forgiving right across the face and the full cavity graphics badge did its job in enhancing the feel and sound of the club at impact. For mid to high handicappers these clubs are ideal and are available in sets from 3 iron through to sand wedge. The longer irons were actually very easy to hit well and consistently but if you’re still not convinced then slipping one or two of the excellent G15 hybrid clubs in to your bag will give the golfer seeking to improve their game a very forgiving set of clubs at their disposal.
