Triangle AMA Announces August Meeting: How To Think About Online Influence

You’ve heard a lot about Klout scores, PeerIndex and other new measures of online influence. But what do they mean – and more importantly – what are marketers to make of these nascent measures?

Aug. 11, 2011 - PRLog -- More and more marketers are using these measures of online influence for customer segmentation, outreach programs and even product sampling, yet many do not really understand what these measures are telling us – and what they are not.

Join Tom Webster (@webby2001), VP of Strategy for Edison Research, as he walks attendees through an introduction to these measures, including their strengths and weaknesses, and provides Triangle AMA members with a framework to think about Klout and other gauges of online influence. Attendees will learn why these measures may or may not be right for your business, and, more importantly, how to link them to your other key online and offline business metrics.

Webster has a 20-year history in market and opinion research and consumer behavior, specializing in new media, technology and social media behaviors. He is the co-author of the annual Edison Research/Arbitron Internet and Multimedia Research Series, the longest-running survey of consumer media habits online and offline. He is the principle author of a number of widely-quoted research reports on social media, including The Social Habit, Twitter Users in America, and The New Media Consumer. Tom also publishes the BrandSavant blog about making sense of the social web from the perspective of a professional researcher.
