BEST Inc Develops Custom Kapton™ Masks to Prevent Solder Splashing on PCBs

Aug. 25, 2011 - PRLog -- Rolling Meadows, IL — BEST Inc. announces the development of a line of custom Kapton™ masks to be used prior to wave soldering on printed circuit boards. These custom masks allow the user to significantly reduce the time required for masking the board prior to wave soldering. It also eliminates the secondary cleaning required of liquid masks.
These masks are custom cut from a high temperature polyimide film and are used in masking of circuit boards during wave soldering or other electronic manufacturing processes. Alternatively, it can be used in powder coating, automotive and transformer manufacturing. Polyimide offers excellent performance in electrical and thermal insulation. The polyimide masks have 1.5 mil of silicon adhesive which does not leave any residue. It can withstand temperature up to 500°F/260°C. The masking discs conform to MIL SPEC MIL-P-46112 Type I.

BEST can accept customer GERBER, dxf, dwg and other file formats for creation of these masks. Depending on the size of the masks this  will either be one or two piece designs. The precision of the cuts out is 0.001” (0.025mm) with the maximum size being 12” (305mm) x 8” (203mm).
