Hyundai Hope On Wheels Donates $50K to Connecticut Children's Medical Center for Cancer Research

Sept. 16, 2011 - PRLog -- Connecticut Children’s Medical Center’s acclaimed physician, Dr. Nehal Parikh, is the proud recipient of a $50,000 grant from Hyundai Hope On Wheels, the nationwide Hyundai effort to eradicate pediatric cancer within the towns and neighborhoods where Hyundai franchises are located.

Dr. Nehal Parikh studies new treatment approaches for children with neuroblastoma. While overall cure rates for most pediatric cancers have improved remarkably over the years to above 80%, unfortunately, neuroblastoma significantly lags behind that statistic.

“Hyundai makes a point to keep the funds within the community served. That’s the goal: keep it local. Dealers from across Connecticut congregated at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center to watch Dr. Parikh receive his grant, and see first hand the smiling faces of his many patients.

Hyundai Hand Print Ceremony the Highlight of Hope On Wheels

Several of Dr. Parikh’s patients participated in the hand print ceremony, the Hyundai trademark honoring pediatric cancer patients with hand prints covering a Hyundai Hope On Wheels vehicle.

“It’s the kids that make this event so remarkable,” said Jill Merriam, owner of Key Hyundai of Milford and Manchester. “Hyundai gets money into the hands of the doctors, researchers, and children that need it most. It’s a very proud day to be a Hyundai dealer.”
