Community Expo Helping Downriver Families for its Third Year

Aug. 25, 2011 - PRLog -- WOODHAVEN, MI--The Third Annual Downriver Community Expo is a special event designed to bring people together for the purpose of strengthening our community and improving individual lives.  This year’s expo is being held on Saturday, September 17th, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Woodhaven Community Center (23101 Hall Rd.).  

What makes this event unique is that it provides something for the entire family.  While it provides the opportunity for local residents to find resources to help them make their lives more enjoyable and for business owners to connect with customers and potential strategic partners, it also provides an opportunity for families to come enjoy a part of their weekend participating in a variety of family-friendly activities.  Unlike the average business expo, this event is being put together by the exhibitors who have come together to contribute their particular field of expertise to produce this fun-filled, family-friendly event with no admission charge for the attendees.  

One of the main attractions this year will be a special show by AWARD WINNING VENTRILOQUIST/FUNNY PUPPET GUY RICHARD PAUL who will be performing his Ventriloquist Family Fun Variety Show. Richard’s outrageous, kid-friendly comedy, life-like puppets, music, sight gags and rip-roaring spontaneous improvisational interjections bring about an unforgettable, side-splitting, head-spinning performance. Get ready to laugh out loud when Richard selects lucky audience members to join in on the fun by dressing them up and transforming their natural voices into something supernaturally funny.  There will be three shows (11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m.) each lasting approximately 30-45 minutes long.

Double D Ranch from Belleville, MI will be providing horseback riding opportunities and a special DOG CONTEST that will recognize the “cutest dressed dog”, the “dog with the most Downriver spirit”, and the “dog displaying the best trick”.  The contest is open to the public with registration beginning at 12:00 sharp and the contest starting at 12:30 p.m.  Contest winners will receive a gift basket including a custom dog collar made by Double D Doggie and gift cards from local Downriver businesses.  More information about the contest can be obtained by contacting Dawn McCarty at 734-260-2660.

A special PRE-EVENT WORKSHOP will be available beginning at 9:00 a.m. for all business owners, managers, and representatives featuring certified peak performance expert, Cliff Suttle.  Cliff will be presenting a motivational and interactive session exploring “The Power of YOU” where attendees will learn how to create their own reality, their own prosperity, and their own happiness.  RSVP online at www.DownriverSmallBusiness.com.

The list of attractions is growing and will include pumpkin painting, free popcorn, cotton candy, giveaways, hourly drawings, and much more.  Lunch and concessions will be provided for a reasonable charge by local food providers.  The event is being hosted by the Michigan Business Advantage networking organization and sponsored by Bulldawg Music, Double D Ranch, Downriver Community Federal Credit Union, Intents Events, Farm Bureau Insurance, MI Custom Signs, and Telegraph Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM.
