Follow on Google News | Event and Artist Reception Explores the Art and Science of FlowersThe Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens will host a botanical event on Saturday, September 10 to explore the beauty and science of flowers. The event will showcase the botanical artwork of David Leaser who uses photography as his medium.
By: Denise Leaser The event is free by with a complementary invitation (please RSVP) and will run Saturday, September 10 from 1 pm to 4 pm in the Botanical Center. Visitors can come and go throughout the time period. The event showcases the artwork of author and fine art photographer David Leaser. Leaser has developed a process using sophisticated imaging techniques, including technology from NASA's missions to Mars, which critics are calling dettagli because of the extreme detail they exhibit. In this "Focus on Flowers" event, visitors will see flowers, enormously enlarged, where you can literally see the pollen glistening on the stamens. “When you see these large canvases, you literally get a bees-eye view into the flower. You will see things you normally wouldn’t even notice, like the tiny hairs on an orchid,” Mr. Leaser said. Titled Nightflowers, Leaser’s collection launched at the Architectural Digest Home Design Show in March in New York City, this event marks the West Coast debut of the collection. The event and artist’s reception will be held Saturday, September 10 from 1 pm to 4 pm in the Botanical Center at the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens outside Pasadena in San Marino.
