Private Christian School Pantego Christian Academy (PCA) Trains Students on Bully Reporting System

Sept. 5, 2011 - PRLog -- (Arlington, Texas) - Pantego Christian Academy (PCA), a private college preparatory PreK-12  school with campuses in Arlington and Mansfield, will train students on the “Talk About It” bully reporting system beginning Tuesday, September 6.  PCA recognizes the “code of silence” that exists in a bully culture and strives to educate and empower students with the powerful “Talk About It” program, provided by AnComm.

In employing “Talk About It,” Pantego Christian Academy joins a number of North Texas schools choosing to embrace technology, for better or for worse.  At its worst, students have more channels than ever before to harass, intimidate and ridicule.  While PCA parents and leaders would like to think our students use social media, face-to-face relationships, texting and all that fall in between in a friendly manner, the school also takes the bold step to shut down ugly interactions.

“Introducing ‘Talk About It’ tells our students two things,” says Pantego Christian Academy Headmaster Jay Pritcher.  “One is that the small, familiar community culture of our school isn’t so close knit we protect unacceptable behavior.  The other is violence, intimidation, subtle threats or other forms of abuse have no place here.  Our students will have a voice and a choice in safe reporting.”

After training to understand the subtleties of what bullying is- from vague to outright threats, students are educated on the various anonymous reporting channels- including texting and social media.

"Kids are the best resource for knowing what’s going on inside our schools." Pritcher says. "To allow those kids to open the doors on a conversation conducted confidentially is a key link.”

However, “Talk About It” provides a system that allows for any message communicating a threat to a student’s own life, the life of another, or the entity itself to trigger instant response.  The faculty recipient may immediately request and receive from AnComm the student’s identity in order to avoid a potential tragedy.
