Two Historic Inns Join Charlestowne Hotels’ Portfolio

Sept. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- Built by the founder of North Augusta, James U. Jackson, and his brother Walter, the properties have long been symbols of the city. They served as grand private homes before being converted into inns in the early 1990s. The sister properties were bought by current owners Kelly and Diana Combs in 2009.

Rosemary Inn was built in 1902 by James U. Jackson. Located at 804 Carolina Avenue, the mansion embraces and exemplifies the classic Greek Revival style with paneled ceilings, a grand staircase, ornate light fixtures and stained glass and wood embellishments. The home’s style showcases the crossover from the Victorian Period to the Eclectic Period with spacious interiors strongly influenced by the Victorian style that are ideal for intimate gatherings and events. The six guest rooms are uniquely charming with private bathrooms and plush amenities, and are named after the Jackson family members who originally occupied them. Lookaway  Inn was built in 1898 by Walter Jackson. Located at 103 West Forest Avenue at the convergence of Georgia and Carolina Avenues, the stately mansion overlooks the cities of North Augusta, SC and Augusta, GA. The home’s style embraces and exemplifies the classic Beaux Arts style.
