Sept. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- Legendary pitchers Tom Seaver, Vida Blue, Gaylord Perry and Tommy John were certainly artists on the mound, combining for 1,122 victories and 11,594 strike outs during illustrious careers in the Major Leagues.  Joining together to pay tribute to America’s military personnel, their new-found artistry with paint brush and palette will displayed on canvas when a dramatic painting is unveiled to the media and invited guests at Gallagher’s Steak House (228 West 52nd Street) in New York City this Saturday, September 10, at 5:00 pm. Collaborating with American muralist extraordinaire, Vincent Perez, to paint a truly historic work of art – a bigger-than-life-size oil painting – to raise a million dollars for the USO.  The dramatic painting stands an imposing 8-feet tall and stretches out 12-feet wide.

While the members of the pitching foursome were considered Rembrandts on the pitcher’s mound, none had ever painted a piece of art, unless of course you count the black edge of home plate.  That’s what makes the final painting so impressive – these artistic rookies delivered Hall of Fame performances with master strokes.

SignatureART is offering 1,500 Limited Edition Autographed Prints produced from the original painting priced at $700 per print, as well as unsigned poster prints priced at $30 each, which will be sold to raise money to benefit the USO. For more information log on to www.SignatureArt.com,

This historic project was “officially” launched in June on the Army base at Fort Drum where Vida Blue and Tommy John led two squads of Army troops in a spirited softball game.  Since then, the four “Celebrity Artists” have been working in secret to finish the massive mural in time for it's first ever public display.  The formal unveiling will occur on Sunday, September 11 in New York City to commemorate the 9-11 tragedy and to show special appreciation for the service and sacrifice of our U.S. Armed Forces.

An invitation-only “Preview” reception will be held on Saturday, September 10th at 5:00 p.m. at Gallagher’s Steak House at 228 West 52nd Street, between Broadway and Eighth Avenue in New York City, where special supporters and media representatives will get an advance peek at the baseball legends' handiwork.

A series of Limited Edition Autographed Prints will be produced from the original painting and sold to raise money to benefit the USO.
