Sept. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- Houston, TX— ILC Dover, a world leader in flexible materials and inflatable 3-D structures, announced today from their Houston Texas office they designed and built a space suit simulator for NASA’s Extreme Environment Mission Operations (NEEMO) project.  The short-fused effort allowed NEEMO aquanauts to attach Extra-Vehicular Activity (EVA) tools to their SCUBA rigs in an arrangement that simulates both the manner and cross-sectional displacement of the operational space suit.  The neutrally buoyant design, called a Waist Ring Workstation (WRW) was intended to improve the fidelity of the NEEMO project as an analog for space exploration.  “The (workstations) that you guys built were exactly what we asked for and we were very happy with what you delivered” said NASA astronaut NEEMO 15 aquanaut  Mike Gernhardt.
