The Missing Link: Process Management for Small Businesses

Sept. 16, 2011 - PRLog -- “A Guide to Process Management: Small Biz Edition,” was the topic of Karen Smith-Will’s presentation to the Richmond, Virginia, chapter of SCORE on September 15, 2011. Passionate to help other small business owners, Karen coached counselors to ensure their clients invest attention in process stewardship.

“So few business owners invest time on process,” she explained. “But the risks of not doing so are high. Strong leaders understand that process stewardship is a key way to respect their employees, their investors—and especially their customers.” She challenges business owners to establish annual process goals as part of their strategic planning.

According to their website, “SCORE is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), and has been mentoring small business owners for more than forty years. SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to educating entrepreneurs and helping small businesses start, grow, and succeed nationwide.”

Karen attended a SCORE full-day boot camp training back in 2009 when she started her consulting business, Valutivity LLC.  She also partnered with several SCORE counselors, including Fred Esposito, a retired insurance executive. “Fred has encouraged me along the way as I built Valutivity. His support in building out my network amongst nonprofits has been invaluable.”
