Sept. 26, 2011 - PRLog -- The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recently announced a product recall for pourable gel fuel due to its serious risk of flash fire and burns in an already burning fire pot.  Nine manufacturers and distributors have voluntarily recalled these products and Apollo Safety is warning its customers to heed this warning and return the products to the manufacturer.

According to CPSC, of the 65 incidents related to pourable gel fuel, two deaths and 34 hospitalizations resulting in second and third degree burns to the neck, face, chest and arms.  The recall involves nearly 2 million units of fuel packaged in one-quart or one-gallon plastic bottles.

The National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) had issued a warning in August warning the public of the danger these products pose to consumers.  In response to the CPSC recall, NFPA modified its warning to a call for consumers to immediately stop using pourable gel fuels, usually used in fire pots, personal fireplaces and some patio torches.

Apollo Safety wants to urge its customers to heed the recall and return these products to their manufactures for a full refund.  The nine manufacturers of pourable gel fuel are Bird Brain, Inc., Bond Manufacturing, Sunjel Company, Fuel Barons, Inc., Lamplight Farms, Inc., Luminosities, Inc., Pacific Décor, Ltd., Real Flame, and Smart Solar, Inc.
