Who’s to Become Top Global Automotive OEM? Frost & Sullivan Webinar on Platform Standardisation

Frost & Sullivan will hold a complimentary web conference, entitled Reduction of Passenger Vehicle Platforms by 2020, taking place on Wednesday, 12th October 2011, at 2 p.m. BST.

Sept. 27, 2011 - PRLog -- By 2020 key 12 global Automotive OEM groups are expected to reduce their passenger vehicle platforms from 223 in 2010 to 154. From these the Volkswagen and Daimler groups are expected to emerge as winners with the highest degree of platform standardisation and widest range of vehicle models on a single platform. While pushing for the right line-ups of models at the right price and time in the future, Automotive OEM’s will have to remain frugal with their platform and production approach and prepare for intense competition at the same time.

Frost & Sullivan will hold a complimentary web conference, entitled Reduction of Passenger Vehicle  Platforms by 2020, taking place on Wednesday, 12th October 2011, at 2 p.m. BST. Industry Analyst, Vishwas Shankar, will discuss global market dynamics as well as the current and future environment of platform strategy and its impact on standardisation and the response of key global Automotive OEMs.

You may also register to receive a recorded version of the briefing at anytime by submitting the aforementioned contact details.

The webinar aims to present quantitative and qualitative information on how standardisation of platforms is expected to impact the OEMs and their sub-brands.

Technology partners and component suppliers in the future will have to better plan and invest to attain high levels of factory utilisation by having a reduced count of discrete parts.

“Global suppliers are willing to follow vehicle manufacturers and set up global facilities closer to OEMs’ final assembly lines, resulting in the reduction of discrete parts which otherwise are another cause of concern from handling just too many parts in the entire supply chain,” explains Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst, Vishwas Shankar.

“Emerging Asian economies will certainly be driving platform standardisation and modular approach over Europe and North America,” he continues. “More than 24 of 800 discrete models are global vehicle models, expected to be manufactured and ideally sold in both China and the United States. This clearly shows the focus on emerging economies as key to growth.”

This webinar will primarily benefit components manufacturers, distributors, vehicle manufacturers as well as technology partners globally. It also benefits end consumers, including local and global fleet operators, by hearing about new models planned for the future in different vehicle segments globally, irrespective of being familiar with their platforms.
