Global ferrochrome demand may rise 10 percent by 2012

The stainless steel production may increase at an average rate of 10 percent per year.
 
Sept. 27, 2011 - PRLog -- Ferrochrome  demand  expects a recovery in the  global markets through 2012 on world economic growth and a shortage of new capacity in South Africa for the near future.

According to Albanian Minerals President and CEO Sahit Muja the long-term outlook for stainless steel production remains strong and record production of 35 million tonnes is expected in 2011 from 32 million tonnes in 2010.

The stainless steel  production may  increase at an average rate of 10 percent per year.
More than 50% of stainless steel growth is expected from China.
China to lead demand growth of ferrochrome in the coming years.

Demand for ferrochrome is rising in China, the largest producer. World stainless steel production is expected to jump in 2012 on demand for fuel pipelines and petrochemical plants.

South Africa, India, Turkey and Oman  are seeking to export less of the chrome ore raw material and process more of it themselves to increase revenue.

South Africa, with 72 percent of the world’s chrome ore reserves and about half of its chromite ore output, may benefit if it has enough generating capacity to power industry.
