PRLog -- The 2011 DocMiami International Film Festival launched this year with an opening night cockatil September 22, 2011, sponsored by Romano's Macaroni Grill of Doral with special guest speaker Jacqueline Ripstein, Artist and United Nations Wolrd Peace Envoy. On Spetember 23, 2011, Millennia Atlantic University hosted documentary film screenings and students from Miami-Dade County Public Schools attended the special screenings. The evening of the 23rd also included, a Savor Miami Cuban Bistro and Wine Market sponsored, "DocMiami Filmmaker Appreciation Dinner" with a special screening of "Stories from the Bay of Pigs" a Miami World Cinema Center & Momentum Miami Production with a special appearance by Brigade 2506 Veterans and student filmmakers. The celebration included Music performances by Maikel Santaya and Flamenco Guitarist, Paco Aguilera. September 24th & 25th took place at the beautiful Doral Golf Resort & Spa were the remaining documentary films were showcased. September 24th included a concert by Fito Espinola in order to raise funds for the non-profit Brick by Brick for Tanzania, Inc. September 25th included the remaining documentary film screenings and the awards gala ceremony hosted by Univision 23's Gloria Ordaz, a special pre-recorded "Thank You" from DocMiami' 2011s "El Rey" Tito Puente Contribution to the Arts Award recipient Carlos Santana, and a MUSIC packed celebration of the arts with performances by Tito Puente, Jr., Javier Batiz, Fito de la Parra, Kiki Sanchez, Rich Ferguson, Bo Blount & Eloy "Rali" Guanche.
