Each year, the BWF® has featured such prominent, high-profile keynote speakers like Loretta Claiborne as well as Paula Abdul, Robin Roberts, Goldie Hawn, Jamie Lee Curtis, Suze Orman, Jane Seymour, Chris Madden, Ann Curry, Jack Ford, and Faith Popcorn.” Susan Saint James, Special Olympics advocate and Emmy Award-winning TV actress is best known for her role as a mom on “Kate & Allie”, the crime-fighting spouse on “McMillan & Wife” with Rock Hudson, and as a young career woman in “The Name of the Game”. Ms. Saint James is a dedicated friend of the Special Olympics, and she will introduce Special Olympics Champion Loretta Claiborne to the 2011 BWF conference. Internationally- Among the many accomplishments and honors Loretta Claiborne has received is that she was the first person with an intellectual disability to receive two honorary doctorate degrees. The first was from Quinnipiac University in 1995, and he second was from Villanova University in 2003. In 1996, she was honored with ESPN’s ESPY Arthur Ashe Award for Courage. In 2000, her notable life of achievement was recounted in Walt Disney Productions’ Ms. Claiborne has also achieved a 4th degree black belt in karate. She learned to communicate in four languages and she is becoming fluent in American Sign Language. She has spoken before the U.S. Congress plus hundreds of other groups and organizations around the world. In 1995, Ms. Claiborne introduced President Bill Clinton at the Special Olympics World Summer Games; and she appeared twice as a guest on television’s former “Oprah Winfrey Show”. One of Ms. Claiborne’s most memorable moments was presenting the eulogy for a devoted friend and founder of the Special Olympics, Mrs. Eunice Kennedy Shriver. In addition to Loretta Claiborne, TV/radio personality, board certified therapist, and a top-rated professional keynote speaker across the United States, Connie Podesta, will present a second keynote address at the 2011 BWF.
