New Rotary Club to Bring “Service Above Self” Ideals to International Drive in Orlando

Oct. 4, 2011 - PRLog -- The Rotary Club of International Drive - Orlando, a forming club within Rotary District 6980 in Central Florida, is set to host its Open House Event at the UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management on Wednesday, October 5th, 2011—introducing the mission of Rotary and the opportunity this organization creates for one of Central Florida’s most popular tourism and hospitality areas.

The Open House Event for the Rotary Club of International Drive – Orlando will be held on Wednesday, October 5th, 2011, at the UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management, located at 9907 Universal Boulevard, Orlando, FL 32819.

Following an invitation to prospective members, the event will introduce its guests to the club and to Rotarians leaders and mentors from the sponsoring Rotary Club of Lake Buena Vista and Rotary Club of Dr. Phillips.

International Drive is home to hundreds of restaurants, hotels and local attractions, serving as a major geographical reference point between the Disney Area, Universal Studios Florida and SeaWorld Orlando—the area’s top tourism magnets, which attract over 50 million people per year to Orlando.

Bringing a Rotary Club to International Drive is a great opportunity for the community to explore new avenues of service for its members and the thousands of Rotarians who visit the area seeking local Rotary Clubs where they can visit for fellowship and meeting “make ups”.

Once chartered, the Rotary Club of International Drive – Orlando will represent the fabric of not only Central Florida’s hospitality industry, but a cross-section of the professionals, educators, business people and community leaders who serve the Central Florida community.

“With the expansion of Rotary into the International Drive Area, neighboring communities will benefit from the prestige and opportunity that this global organization presents in bringing together individuals of high moral fiber who are community-minded and involved in its leadership”, said Founding Member Andres Goyanes.

Goyanes is spearheading the Rotary Club formation effort with the guidance of Club Expansion Co-Chairs Sonny Buoncervello and Nancy Hubbard, as well as John Winemiller, all of whom are longtime Rotarian leaders in Central Florida.

Membership at Rotary Clubs is by invitation-only and promotes a philosophy of “Service Above Self”, where the principles that Founder Paul Harris guide Rotarians in their active involvement in community-building efforts, service projects and business networking among leaders from all professions.
