Follow on Google News | Experience:Harlem Tantalizes Senses with The 2nd Annual Harlem Bar & Restaurant Crawl; Pisco Porton$1 from each purchase to be donated to Food Bank NYC - Angie Hancock, CEO and Marketing Guru Taps Hottest Restaurants and Bars in Harlem To Participate
By: Karen Taylor Bass All of the participating venues will feature a special Pisco Porton cocktail and the winning mixologist wins a prize. Hancock will donate $1 from each purchase to Food Bank NYC to benefit food kitchens in Harlem. Angie Hancock says, “I first moved to Harlem in 2003. At the time there was only one bar in the neighborhood. I’m absolutely thrilled about the emergence of 8th Avenue as Harlem’s new Restaurant Row. There are so many interesting options from Ethiopian, to French-Senegalese and American, reflecting the diversity of not only the neighborhood but also New Yorkers.” Experience: Harlem was launched in the spring of 2006 as a comprehensive information and entertainment portal for all things Harlem. Its purpose is to connect adventurous and eclectic Harlem residents and visitors with all of the special venues and best kept-secrets that Harlem has to offer. Experience: Harlem fills a longstanding void by providing an online guide to shopping, dining, entertainment and culture in Harlem. Last year “Nectar Wine Bar featured wine shots complete with shot glasses, not the most refined way of introduction at a wine bar, but the crowd - many of whom were new to the 'nabe loved it! We are definitely looking forward to participating in this year's crawl,” laughs Jai Jai Greenfield, Partner, Nectar Wine Bar; “I was very impressed with the excitement the bar crawl created amongst people in our neighborhood in Harlem. People were asking us about it all day, and when they finally showed up at 67 Orange during the crawl, we couldn’t even fit them all,” says Karl Franz Williams. Hancock’s initial motivation for creating events in Harlem was to go out and socialize with her neighbors. “It’s overwhelming at times to see first-hand the revitalization of Harlem and to know that I am a part of this awesome neighborhood,” Participating restaurants for Experience: Harlem Bar & Restaurant Crawl includes: The XYZ Lounge at the Zoma, Nectar Wine Bar; Cedric; Lido, Harlem Tavern, 67 Orange St; and 5 & Diamond.
