Colorado Symphony board appoints Jim Copenhaver interim president and CEO

Oct. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- The Colorado Symphony Board of Trustees announced today that it has appointed Jim Copenhaver as the association’s Interim President and CEO, replacing James Palermo.

Jim Copenhaver served as past Executive Director to the Colorado Symphony and is a Senior Partner with JC Enterprises, a management consulting firm.  He recently served as Interim President/CEO of the Association of Performing Arts Presenters in Washington, DC.

Over the next two months, the CSA board, under the leadership of newly elected co-chairs, Jerome Kern and Mary Rossick Kern, are working diligently with the staff and musicians to revise the existing budget and create a financially maintainable business model.

“Our primary objective is to evolve the business model of the organization to better match today’s economic climate.  Our community deserves a great orchestra and it is our responsibility to preserve this treasure for this generation and future generations,” says board co-chair, Jerome Kern.  “We encourage people to take advantage of the opportunity to hear wonderful music performed by an outstandingly talented orchestra over the next few months and throughout the new year.”

The Colorado Symphony performs this weekend (Friday-Sunday) under the direction of Peter Oundjian and features renowned violinist, Robert McDuffie.  The program includes Beethoven’s inspirational 7th Symphony.  A revised concert schedule is in place for the balance of October and November.  The original concert schedule for the 2011-2012 season will resume on December 5.  For more information and to purchase concert tickets, visit www.coloradosymphony.org.
