Florida Trucking Association announces new Road Team members

Safety efforts will widen with the addition of 10 new professional drivers to educate, inform

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Mary Lou Rajchel, President and CEO of the Florida Trucking Association, announced today the addition of 10 new professional commercial drivers to the prestigious Florida Road Team. This expansion of Florida’s Road Team means more driving safety presentations at schools, community centers and public events across the state will happen in 2012.

“Bringing our Road Team up to 20 active members means that FTA will be able to touch more lives than ever before,” said Mary Lou Rajchel, President and CEO of the Florida Trucking Association. “We’re already giving valuable hands-on safety information to thousands of students a year—and we’re excited about how many more we can reach
in 2012.”

*New Road Team members

Florida’s Road Team is a group of specially-trained professional truck drivers that deliver “No-Zone” and “Share the Road” presentations to schools and community groups statewide. These presentations focus on driving safely around big rigs by staying out of blind spots and reducing aggressive driving practices. Road Team members bring a specially-marked 53-ft “No-Zone” trailer and their truck to the training and visually show participants where blind spots are and give a hands-on demonstration of safety around trucks.

“No-Zone” presentations are especially popular with driver education classes, but the Road Team also brings its presentation to church and community groups statewide. The presentation may be tailored to fit any audience.
