Follow on Google News | Girl Scouts’ Leading Women Awards HonorsGirl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts held their 20th Annual Leading Women Awards breakfast this morning at the Seaport Hotel.
By: Girl Scouts of Eastern Mass. This unique event pairs a Girl Scout with an honoree who has a career similar to the girl’s interest. Kasey Cook of Reading, a Food Network fanatic, started the program by introducing honoree Joanne Chang, owner of Flour Bakery and Myers + Chang. Emily Van Laarhoven of Southborough a budding scientist introduced Jennifer Tour Chayes, Distinguished Scientist and Managing Director of Microsoft Research New England. Future broadcast journalist Jahnilsa Cartagena of Lawrence introduced Callie Crossley, Host of “The Callie Crossley Show,” WGBH Radio 89.7. Marlene Price of Roxbury, an avid philanthropist in her community, introduced Stacey Lucchino, Chairman of the Advisory Board Program in Education, Afterschool & Resiliency at McLean Hospital, Harvard. Caitlin Fitzmaurice of Scituate, who has an interest in business management introduced Helen Sayles, Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Administration, Liberty Mutual Group. Molly McGowan of Southborough, a math wiz, closed the ceremony with the introduction of Maria Tedesco, Group Executive Vice President, Director of Business Banking at Citizens Financial Group. “This distinguished award is a mark of professional achievement and influence in the community, and, most importantly, the women honored are role models for our girls,” explained Ruth N. Bramson, CEO, Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts. “Our Leading Women are explorers, collaborators and innovators – these women possess the leadership qualities that are at the core of the Girl Scout experience,” The Leading Women event raises funds to support Girl Scout programs relevant to today’s girls and their wide range of interests.
