By: Susan W. Morgan Personal appearances by Christopher Slowinski at all Schwarzschild Jewelers stores Tuesday, November 1st from 11am to 8pm at Short Pump Town Center Wednesday, November 2nd from 10am to 1pm at Alverser Plaza Wednesday, November 2nd from 2 to 5pm at Cary Court Richmond, VA: Christopher Slowinski, the master jeweler behind the award winning Christopher Design diamond collections and the inventor of the spectacular Crisscut® diamond cut will make, previously unanounced, appearances at all three Schwarzschild Jewelers locations next week. Slowinski will be on hand to introduce his new round diamond cut, the latest addition to the Crisscut collection of emerald, cushion and assher cut diamonds that literally breathe fire as light refracts through the precisely placed criss-crossed facets. Slowinski came to the United States 25 years ago from his native Poland where he was trained in the diamond trade by master craftsmen using Old World techniques. While working on a new technique for an invisible setting, he accidentally made an error in faceting one of the diamonds and noticed that the accidental cut gave the stone an usually brilliant sparkle in that area. Inspired, he made a number of renderings and presented them to his partners in Israel, who helped perfect the cut. Slowinski has also used the Crisscut on sapphires to achieve unusual brilliance. After years of trial and error, his patience and talent as a master jeweler and lapidary paid off. He perfected his invisible setting, and is currently one of only two jewelers in the U.S. to hold a patent for one. Schwarzschild Jewelers was founded in 1897 when W.H. Schwarzschild was awarded the commission to represent one of the finest watchmakers of the day. A family-run, independent Guild jeweler, Schwarzschild is one of the oldest retail firms in Central Virginia and one of the last remaining of Richmond’s carriage trade businesses. Schwarzschild Jewelers stores are located at Alverser Plaza, Cary Court Shopping Center and Short Pump Town Center.
