Two-day Potenza Performance Challenge 2011 motoring festival announced in DubaiBridgestone to host the Potenza Performance Challenge 2011 at the Dubai Autodrome on December 9th and 10th, where sport driving enthusiasts will compete in a set of driving challenges to win a new car
By: Potenza Performance Challenge The event is being presented by Bridgestone Middle East & Africa, and is focused on promoting driving safety awareness in the UAE by encouraging the public to participate in precision sports driving challenges in a controlled environment. Aside from the driving challenges, Bridgestone will be hosting the Potenza Driving Lessons (PDL) in coordination with the Dubai Autodrome Driving School and visiting Formula One legend Stefano Modena. “As a global leader in tire manufacturing, Bridgestone is always looking for ways to increase driver awareness and safety by encouraging people to learn the correct procedures of driving a vehicle which is the basic principle of road safety,” said Takumi Kakara, Director-Marketing, at Bridgestone Middle East & Africa. “Through the Potenza Performance Challenge 2011 event, we are promoting and rewarding correct driving by offering the public a chance to participate in these precision driving challenges, and also take part in the ‘‘Potenza Driving Lessons” (PDL). The PDL which will be held throughout the weekend will orient drivers on exciting sports driving tips and advanced driving techniques while maintaining a high level of safety as well. “ The Potenza Performance Challenge will give 150 invited sports driving enthusiasts the chance to demonstrate speed, precision, and skill by competing against the clock in performance vehicles running on Bridgestone Potenza high performance tires through three driving challenges. On day one, 150 invited participants will drive against the clock in an ‘Autocross Course Challenge’. Only 50 will advance to compete in the ‘Target Braking Challenge’ on Saturday morning by stopping a high performance car in a limited braking zone from speed. Only 10 will make it through to the final ‘Time Attack Challenge’ round on Saturday afternoon where they will need to master speed and control in a single timed lap around the Autodrome’s 2.64 Km Club Circuit while driving an F1-style single seat track car. The fastest lap time wins a new car! “The beauty of this event is that we are not looking for professional race car drivers. If you love cars and think you can drive then the Potenza Performance Challenge is where you want to be,” said Sherif El Gamrawy, Managing Director of Frogs, the event organizer. “The event is celebration of motoring for the whole family and will include many automotive attractions like a modified car show, an XBOX gaming challenge and even an auto expo for the hard core tuning fans who love modifying cars. There will be lots of activities for the kids, great food and entertainment which is affordable, making this an entire weekend of fun for everyone. We will be announcing more exciting activities in the weeks to come. ” Tickets for the Potenza Performance Challenge 2011 are priced at AED 40 per adult and AED 20 for children with Kids under the age of 12 entering for free.
