Nov. 3, 2011 - PRLog -- San Antonio, Texas – Texas Trophy Hunters Association™ (TTHA) is celebrating hunters during Hunter Appreciation Month by hosting an Opening Weekend Kick-Off Event on Friday, November 4, 2011.

Governor Rick Perry has officially declared November as “Hunter Appreciation Month” in Texas. From wildlife conservation to economically supporting our local, state and national communities, hunters take better care of our planet than any other group of people.  In Texas, an estimated 106,000 jobs are supported by sportsmen funds and spending by sportsmen tops $6.6 billion annually.

"All of us at TTHA are looking forward to a great but possibly challenging deer hunting season and hope to see you here at our offices for this great event,” states Joe Betar, President of Texas Trophy Hunters Association. “We wish everyone a safe and prosperous season.”

To celebrate Opening Weekend of the general season for white-tailed deer, TTHA invites all hunters to our headquarters located in the Sterling Center (326 Sterling Browning Rd.) near the intersection of Stone Oak and Loop 1604 in San Antonio, Texas, for our Opening Weekend Kick-Off Event. TTHA will open doors from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday morning, November 4th, with FREE coffee, doughnuts and tacos, plus complimentary gifts for hunters.

The Texas State Rifle Association (TSRA) will be at the event with TSRA's portable Crossman Air Gun Range so hunters can test their skill before hunting season starts.  As the premier shooting sports organization in Texas, TSRA provides its members with competitive shooting opportunities including cowboy action, air gun, pistol, small bore, high power and other sanctioned junior and adult matches. TSRA’s new featured program, the Youth Shooting Sports Program, provides opportunities for youth and their families to get their fingers on the trigger in a safe and fun environment.

TTHA encourages both hunters and non-hunters to participate in the outdoors during this great month! For more information about Hunter Appreciation Month and TTHA’s Opening Weekend Kick-Off Event, go to www.TTHA.com.
