HARRIS PYE GROUP Secures New Manufacturing/Storage Facility

Nov. 4, 2011 - PRLog -- The Harris Pye Group, headquartered in Barry, has secured a 5-year lease, on a 19 acre site at Sutton Road, Llandow with two 46,000sq.ft former aircraft hangers, one of which will be adapted as a fabrication facility, and the other for storage. The engineering company, which has a multi million pound order book manufacturing for marine and land-based companies all over the world, also has an option to buy the site.

“We are delighted to have secured this site, with its two large hangers providing us with room for expansion,” says Mark Prendergast, Managing Director of the Group. “As was well known, we were disappointed not to secure the Swansea dry dock facility to which we hoped, to move our manufacturing base, but as the Llandow site is just 15 minutes away from our headquarters it is an ideal alternative.

“We have obtained B2 planning for general industrial use; keeping the Sutton Road neighbours in the picture throughout the negotiations and planning procedure. They can rest assured that we will be good neighbours, and that the crested newts in the pond, and barn owls and bats in one of the hangers are very welcome new members of our team.

“Work on the site starts tomorrow (11 October) preparing the buildings for our ultimate use. We hope this will be finished within six months allowing us to move in in the early spring. In the meantime, work continues apace at Barry. I am delighted to say we are having a record year and the move will most certainly take place when we are crying out for extra space!”
