RtI Goes Mobile - A Preliminary Evidence Base for RtI and Mobile Apps

A review of research literature supports the hypothesis that mobile technology with content-based, skill developing applications serve as an important supplement to an RtI Program.

Nov. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- Mobile technology used for educational purposes is in its infancy. As such, there is a lack of research-based evidence for the use of mobile technology and apps as an effective strategy for intervention programs needed to assist striving readers. However, mobile technology and academic applications developed for these devices will improve reading results for students in all three Tiers. With limited research about the effects of mobile technology as part of an RtI intervention program, a review of the research literature focused on effective practices in the implementation of RtI, student motivation, 21st century skills and student needs found the results support the hypothesis that mobile technology with content-based, skill developing applications serve as an important supplement to an RtI Program.

RtI is a collaborative approach developed at the site level by general and special education professionals to ensure students are not placed in special education unless absolutely necessary.
