Follow on Google News | The Jewish Federation Sends Volunteers to The Legacy Senior CommunitiesThis year marks the centennial year for the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas. As part of the celebration, JFGD conducted a first ever community wide “got mitzvah” event.
By: Forte PR The Legacy at Preston Hollow had a full day of activities and performances. In the morning, volunteers from the Jewish War Veterans Auxiliary led Bingo games that had many residents and volunteers entertained for hours. Afterwards, students from Levine Academy sang, played instruments and danced for the residents. The community also hosted an ice cream social in the afternoon where volunteers from Congregation Anshai Torah scooped the residents’ favorite flavors and toppings. “It was a great community day filled with energy and warmth,” said Cheryl Weitz, volunteer coordinator of The Legacy at Preston Hollow. “It was the most volunteers I have ever seen here! The residents completely enjoyed the day, and it was touching to see the looks on their faces as the Levine Academy students sang and danced for them.” About 30 volunteers also visited The Legacy at Willow Bend where they spent time with the assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing residents. A large Bingo game was set up as well as a station where residents could get their fingernails painted. Volunteers also donated flower pots and books to assisted living residents. “It makes such an incredible difference in the lives of our residents when they get the opportunity to spend time with volunteers,” The Legacy Senior Communities, Inc. is the parent company of The Legacy at Willow Bend and The Legacy at Preston Hollow.
