By: George Brown for All Creatures Veterinary Center Nov. 11, 2011 - PRLog -- All Creatures Veterinary Center in Carrollton, Texas will begin its annual Thanksgiving Food Exchange food drive on November 1, 2011. The annual exchange allows clients of All Creatures and local residents to help people and pets with a human food donation. The theme for this year's food drive is "All Creatures' Thanksgiving Food Exchange - You Help People, We Help Pets".
All Creatures invites its clients and local residents to bring in human food donations for Metrocrest Social Services (Carrollton, Texas). The cans of corn, jars of peanut butter and boxes of cereal are weighed on the pet scale in the All Creatures lobby and a chart is updated showing the weight of all the donations. All of the human food is taken to Metrocrest Social Services at the end of November. Then in December, All Creatures will donate an equal amount (in pounds*) of Hill’s® Pet Food (http://hillspet.com) to Operation Kindness (http://www.operationkindness.org) – the no-kill animal shelter in Carrollton, Texas. In 2010, the human food donations weighed just over 1000 pounds. All Creatures then donated 1000 pounds of Hill’s® Pet Food to Operation Kindness. The pet food was provided to Operation Kindness over several weeks so that it could be used as needed. The goal of the Food Exchange this year is to collect and donate 1300 lbs. of food. So even if you aren’t one of our clients, feel free to bring your human food donations to All Creatures Veterinary Center at 2525 E Hebron Pkwy. (at Marsh Ridge Rd.), Carrollton, Texas 75010. Your human food donation will do double duty by helping the cats and dogs at Operation Kindness.
