Nov. 11, 2011 - PRLog -- First United Methodist Church of Arlington expects over 200 people to pack boxes for Operation Christmas Child (http://www.samaritanspurse.org/index.php/OCC/index/) Wednesday, November 16 beginning at 7:00 PM. FUMC of Arlington has participated in this program for several years, with 350 boxes sent to children around the world last year. This year the goal is to pack 400 boxes.

Operation Christmas Child, an outreach program of Samaritan’s Purse (www.samaritanspurse.org), delivers shoeboxes full of toys, school supplies, personal items and other gifts each November to be distributed as Christmas gifts to kids around the world.

“Not everyone can take a mission trip overseas,” says Michelle Clark, mission and outreach coordinator, “so this is a way for someone to get involved with an international mission and help kids who might not receive a Christmas gift at all at the same time.”

There are many was to get involved, starting with the collecting of items all the way to the packing party as well as praying for those packing, delivering and receiving the boxes.
