By: Jim LaBelle “‘A Collage of Carols,’ presented in two beautiful church settings, provides a wonderful way to celebrate Christmas,” said Brusubardis. “We will being singing traditional accompanied and a cappella Christmas hymns and carols including ‘Coventry Carol,’ ‘Silent Night,’ and ‘Carol of the Bells,’ along with holiday favorites like ‘Carol of the Drum,’ ‘White Christmas,’ and ‘Sleigh Ride.’ The audience will be invited to sing along on ‘O Come All Ye Faithful,’ ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing,’ and ‘The First Nowell.’ I invite everyone to experience these exciting live music performances.” The Choral Union will also be singing holiday music for two Waukesha Downtown Business Association events; The “Old Fashioned Christmas Tree Lighting” Friday, November 18, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in front of The Rotunda at 235 W. Broadway, and prior to the annual Waukesha Christmas Parade on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. “A Collage of Carols” is part of the Waukesha Choral Union’s 2011-2012 season of concerts, “Heaven and Nature Sing.” Upcoming performances include: A GIFT TO THE COMMUNITY: HANDEL’S MESSIAH Sunday, March 25, 2012 3:00 p.m. Shattuck Auditorium, Carroll University Any singer who wishes to participate in Handel’s “Messiah” is welcome to take part in this annual choral event. There will also be a silent auction to benefit the Waukesha Choral Union. AWAKENING AND RENEWAL Saturday, May 5, 2012, 7:00 p.m. St. William Parish, Waukesha This concert will present refreshing songs about spring, rejoicing, love, “Awakening and Renewal.” The earth will speak, the moon will gaze down from above, filling the audience with the wonder of living, encouraged and ready to embrace life. The Waukesha Choral Union has been musically active in the community for over 60 years. Originally a combination of the Carroll College student chorus and community singers named Waukesha Choral Society in 1949, the group became the Town and Gown in 1961 and the Waukesha Choral Union in 1974, taking its present form as an auditioned choir in 1978.
