Nov. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- ST. CHARLES, MO, November 15, 2011 – Mike Carter, today, responded to the announcement of two late-comers to his race for Missouri Lt. Governor.  Carter quickly noted that his opponents’ promises to work on Missouri’s tax code, job creation and healthcare reform are virtually meaningless given that the Missouri Lt. Governor’s office holds no meaningful executive power whatsoever.

The Late Senator Tom Eagleton held the post and commented that the biggest part of his day while Missouri’s Lt. Governor was watching the Missouri River flow by his office window.  Missouri’s Supreme Court ruled that the Lt. Governor has no powers unless the Governor is meaningfully absent and unable to perform her duties.  This never occurs, given today’s technology.

Because the post of Lieutenant Governor is largely ceremonial, the position demands that its occupant have a firm handle on strategic communications.  Carter, along with his law degree, holds a Master of Journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia (Mizzou) with certificates in strategic communications and public relations.

The two-party system is changing and with independents growing exponentially, the GOP cannot afford to field a party stalwart in the general election.  Rather, Carter, with GOP unity will offer general election voters what most polls indicate they desire – independent-minded Republicans and Democrats.  Missouri voters want a candidate with traits common to both dominant parties – fiscal conservatism, compassion, deep respect for the Constitution, elevated privacy protection, and tempered self-reliance.

Missouri’s GOP must recognize the changing political dynamics nationwide and encourage Mike Carter’s recently-announced opponents to rally behind his candidacy for Missouri Lieutenant Governor.

Carter is an Independent-minded Republican who has cast votes for Ross Perot and Ron Paul.  He is a real estate attorney, Senior Lecturer for the University of Missouri, corporate counsel, and Director at the St. Louis Board of REALTORS.
