Follow on Google News | Children’s Magical Adventure Book, "Rockafella Jones and the Hidden Treasure,"Rockafella Jones and the Hidden Treasure brings to life the sprightly title character and a cast of friends that band together to help someone in need. A chapter-book for young readers with lavish illustrations by Susanne Riette, that demonstrates.
By: Blue Mustang Press Soon she meets a squirrel and a lizard, who become her friends, as well as an older woman named SallyLou Goldenrod who needs help solving a mystery and finding a treasure. Aided by a dirt-hating pig and an elderly horse, Rockafella and her friends pool their ingenuity and skills to help SallyLou try to save her farm, which is also their home. As they learn to work together through twists and setbacks, they also learn about the happiness that comes from helping others and about the power of friendship. The book has received high praise from kids and educators alike. Retired educator Kathy Morton says, "Rockafella Jones and the Hidden Treasure is a delightful story of a lost fairy who is befriended by local animals. Together their friendship, creative problem solving, and teamwork combine to save the day for SallyLou, their human, in this gentle adventure. Chapters are short but exciting, leaving the reader wondering ‘what happens next?’ This book would be perfect for use in the classroom or at bedtime to introduce younger listeners and readers to chapter books." The book was written with an eye towards being great for reading aloud to younger children while still being interesting enough for older readers to read it themselves. The chapters are kept short, generally only 1-3 pages, yet each ends with a “cliff hanger” of sorts to propel interest into the next chapter. Overall it introduces young children to the idea of a longer, sustained story, told over time, yet not being so long as to lose the reader’s (or listener’s) Lindy Conroe has been an Assistant Professor of English, a watercolor and collage artist, a licensed social worker, and a psychotherapist with a private practice. She lives near Boston with her husband. This is her first book for children. Illustrator Susanne Riette graduated from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and has been an illustrator for the greeting card industry and designer for Hasbro, Inc, the toy company. For the past 10 years she has run her own freelance design studio with a wide variety of clients. She is also a water color artist and has exhibited in many galleries in the region around her home in Easton, Massachusetts.
