Nov. 29, 2011 - PRLog -- NEW YORK, NY – Last week, paper product-manufacturer, Kimberly-Clark was forced to recall certain shipments of its Kotex Natural Balance* Security® Unscented Regular Absorbency Tampons. According to a press release distributed by the FDA, the feminine products in question caused concern because they were manufactured with a raw material exposed to a bacterium called Enterobacter sakazakii. E. sakazakii is known to have a high case fatality rate in infants, and is thought to lead to vaginal infections, urinary tract infections (UTIs), pelvic inflammatory disease and other life-threatening infections in adult women.

The Kotex Natural Balance* Security® Unscented Regular Absorbency Tampons included in the recall were shipped between October 29, 2011 and November 2, 2011 in both 18-count and 36-count packages. The affected cartons were sent to specific Walmart stores in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico and Texas; specific Fry’s stores in Arizona; and specific Smith’s stores in Utah and Arizona.
