Dec. 1, 2011 - PRLog -- Everyone remembers this joint as the one belonging to a beautiful Brazilian who was brutally murdered by her suspected husband, a known Hollywood producer currently awaiting trial. What people may not know is that this establishment has emerged from that unspeakable tragedy and is once again poised on its track to being Brazil-Central in Los Angeles. After all, this place used to be, among other things, ground zero for the gigantic Brazil's World Cup soccer match gatherings, not to mention the colorful yearly Carnival celebrations in February/March.

Carla Burgos, the late victim's sister who now runs this restaurant/bar has brought a new style of management and renamed it from Zabumba to Kikafulô, a name that represents the spirit of her beloved lost sibling. Carla is using her considerable culinary skills to offer a delicate homemade Brazilian menu with fresh, never frozen, ingredients, and her delicate touch is turning heads. People come away from eating at Kikafulô somewhat stunned by the unexpectedly delectable feast. Indeed, who would have imagined that the little unpretentious West L.A. watering hole (tucked in the north-west corner of Venice and Overland in Culver City) could pack such a gastronomical punch? The amazing taste is all in the sweet touch from the tender loving care of a sister honoring the memory of her baby sister. No industrial cooking shortcuts are tolerated here, and you can feel that in your happy mouth.

But more than a party for your taste buds, Kikafulô has also kicked thinks up a notch in the atmosphere and entertainment department. Sure, the place has kept its very casual a la Brazilian style and flair, but it wants to show off multiple facets of Brazilian culture to its fun-seeking patrons. You are invited to party like (or with) a Brazilian, with the kitchen staying open and at your service till 3:00 am on weekend nights. You're going to need it, after gyrating all night to the sound of a batucada and other irresistible beats. An especially commissioned live Samba band will set your Saturday nights alight.

If you still haven't had enough, a DJ will rock you with booty-shaking rhythms late into the Angelino night. Want more? Come back during the week for the hottest lambada/zouk/samba dance class guided by Shani with her contagious good mood every Tuesday 8 to 10 pm. After a short trip to Brazil for Christmas, Shani will be back to renew her enthusiasm by adding a sizzling Zumba dance class to the menu. Check for schedule updates, or just show up anytime and take advantage of the Happy Hour drink specials daily from 5 to 8 pm, with finger-licking, very reasonably priced appetizers, tapas, etc.

Also of note is the return of Salsa classes Thursdays at 7:00 pm, followed by a dance party with famous Cuban Salsa pundit, DJ Saoco. Salseros have not been forgotten, getting an additional hefty serving of tropical rhythms with "Salsa Sundays" every Sunday from 6:00 pm until last call.

Set your GPS on this exquisite L.A. destination to eat, drink, dance and be merry, because as someone once said: "Brazilians know happy!" Make your choice of a nice lunch menu served daily from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, or dinner served till 11:30 pm weeknights (serving till 3:00 am Friday, Saturday - closed Monday).

If any of this calls your name, you might want to mark your calendar for the following key events:
