By: Larry Lourcey "It gives a brief introduction to Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn, then shows you how to use them effectively and more important – efficiently," "Social Media 101" targets people who might be dabbling in social media, but have not a definite plan of action. "Basically, the book will give them basic strategies to help them create an organised and sustainable battle plan," said Larry, a Plano portrait artist, who holds the designation of Master Photographer awarded by the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) in 2007. Larry, who has several of his images selected for the prestigious PPA Loan Collection, including an image displayed at Imaging Asia in 2005, said the book was writing with the hope that it will help business people precious time by showing them shortcuts and how to work smartly in social media. "Increasing their social media productivity will also lead to more customers and more business," noted Larry, who claimed that when he first started out in social media, he was lost. "I would spend hours online - wandering aimlessly." However, once he figured out what helped and what didn’t, he was able to take his marketing from point 'A' to point 'B' in a relatively short time. "Marketing your business through social media doesn’t have to be a chore. It should be fun," added Larry, whose goal with this new book is to take some of the mystery out of social media workflow. "It is filled with things that I wish I had known when I started out," said the Texan photographer who is mostly recognized for his black and white photography. The breadth of his work also includes vibrant photo paintings, Polaroid transfers, and photographic collages. He derives his inspiration from master painters like John Singer Sargent and Edgar Degas, while embracing the bold styles of more modern greats; such as Pino Daeni.
