The Number of Clinical Trials Conducted for Rheumatoid Arthritis Were the Highest of all Autoimmune Disorders for the Period 2000 to 2009

Dec. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- The average patient recruitment per trial per year has continued to decline over the past decade across the five major indications of autoimmune disorders which are multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis and psoriasis. The average number of patients recruited for clinical trials across five major autoimmune disorders was approximately 408 in 2000. This average had declined to 74 in 2009. In between 2000 and 2009, there is an irregular trend of average patients recruited for clinical trials in five major autoimmune disorders

Most number of clinical trials is conducted for central nervous system followed by oncology. 2,298 trials have been conducted for CNS across the globe and 2,044 trials have been conducted for oncology. The number of clinical trials in autoimmune disorders for the period 2000 to 2009 is less compared to other therapeutic areas. Only 668 trials have been conducted in autoimmune disorders in the period 2000 to 2009.
