2012 – the year of the BIG event

Dec. 14, 2011 - PRLog -- In the first week of June 2012, Her Majesty the Queen will celebrate 60 years as Britain’s monarch – an anniversary that will be marked by a programme of events organised by Buckingham Palace and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.

Then, on July 27th sport’s greatest spectacle, the Olympic Games, will commence, swiftly followed by the Paralympics.

While the excitement amongst royalists and sports enthusiasts is beginning to reach fever pitch, according to Trees by Design – a Cheshire-based company specialising in multimedia and theatrical event staging – some people will be biting their fingernails with anxiety.

“The whole world will be watching Britain in 2012 which is obviously great news for everyone involved, not least the tourist industry, however, with this comes expectation and ultimately, heaps of pressure,” said a Trees by Design spokesperson. “All the people pulling the strings behind the scenes, tasked with making sure that everything runs smoothly, will be doing all they can to avoid any slip ups and people remember each event for the right reasons.

The recent announcement that the Government has pledged to add an extra £41million of taxpayers’ money into the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games, has only increased the strain on event management teams.

“The ceremonies are expected to reach four billion people across the globe and could lead to £5billion in advertising revenue,” added the spokesperson. “So there’s no wonder that the Government are throwing their weight behind it – if anything was to go wrong I’m sure people will point the finger in their direction.

“When the Commonwealth Games were held in Manchester everyone agreed that they were well run and the city really hasn’t looked back since. So, let’s hope all of 2012 goes off with a bang and we can celebrate what was a really successful year.”
