The National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association Offers Group Fitness Training for Instructors

The National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association (NESTA) Group Fitness Training prepares instructors to teach high-energy, effective classes in a group setting. This profession is expected to grow by more than 25 percent through 2016.
Dec. 19, 2011 - PRLog -- Rancho Santa Margarita, CA – Whether it’s kickboxing or step class, body sculpt or hip hop, group fitness offers a variety of options that can help people get fit, have fun and make money in a short amount of time. In response to the ongoing growth in this arena of the health and wellness industry, the National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association (NESTA) now offers an online Group Fitness Instructor certification program.

In addition, group fitness training offers some good news in a challenging economy: The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts employment for fitness trainers and aerobics instructors will grow an impressive 27 percent by 2016, which is much faster than the average for all occupations surveyed.

The online training course includes lessons in muscular anatomy, teaching an effective class that includes a warm-up, cardio section, sculpting, cool-down and stretch and more. The self-paced manual and program also includes tips and advice for succeeding in the group fitness industry.

“Teaching group fitness can be fun, empowering and even life-changing,” said Dr. John Spencer Ellis, founder of NESTA and creator of the Group Fitness Certification program. “You can change your life and the lives of the people you motivate and inspire every day, making this certification incredibly valuable and long-lasting.”

The online certification includes CD manuals, DVD lessons and an online exam. The at-home Group Fitness Instructor training program qualifies for continuing education credits (CEUs) for the Spencer Institute and NESTA and does not have any prerequisites. On average, it takes about three to four weeks to complete.

“If you are enthusiastic, enjoy working out and working with others, this can be a perfect complement to another job or a full-time passion in itself,” Ellis added. “The group fitness industry continues to grow and expand, which means the demand for certified group fitness instructors continues to grow and expand as well.”
