By: Cavignac & Associates A San Diego-based risk management and insurance brokerage firm, Cavignac & Associates employs 40 people at its downtown offices. Last year, the company’s employees pooled together a total of $12,600. Monies were carefully divided and directed toward the Alpha Project, Veterans Village San Diego, Fisher House, Operation Caregiver (Nice Guys), Toussaint Academy, the San Diego Junior Theater’s scholarship program, Voices for Children, the Monarch School, Polinsky Center, Jane’s Room, Habitat for Humanity, STARS – San Diego Youth Service, Reality Changers, YMCA Overnight Camps, Big Sisters and Big Brothers Clubs, San Diego Center for Children, Mama’s Kitchen, and San Diego Senior Community Centers. Cavignac & Associates' employees also once again "adopted" two separate families through the Say San Diego program, wrapping and delivering a carload of gifts -- including clothing, toys and grocery gift cards -- for each family. Cavignac & Associates’ employees supported the Alpha Project and Veterans Village San Diego by setting up donation boxes in the Bank of America Plaza lobby for the collection of blankets, toiletries, sweatshirts, socks, and jackets for San Diego’s homeless veterans and citizens living in shelters. Funds were also directed to the Fisher House, an organization whose mission is to provide a "home away from home" for military families to be close to their loved ones during hospitalization for an illness, disease or injury. Earlier this year, monies from the company's Charity Fund were also directed toward providing care kits for U.S. Marines in Iraq and Afghanistan as part of the Operation Caregiver Nice Guys Fund. In addition to giving monetary contributions, six or seven of Cavignac & Associates’ employees volunteered their time each month during the year to help serve lunches at the San Diego Senior Community Center in downtown San Diego. The Cavignac & Associates Charity Fund employee gift-giving program first began in 2000 when employees agreed they wanted to give back to the community in a meaningful, tangible way. They established a charitable fund that would allow them to direct specific amounts from their paychecks each pay period throughout the year. As in previous years, nearly all of the company’s 40 employees contributed to the fund this year, designating a combined total of approximately $620 per pay period. In addition to giving through the Charitable Fund, Cavignac & Associates makes substantial corporate contributions and its principals actively support a number of charitable organizations, including the Challenged Athletes Foundation, YMCA, Bridges to Community, the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA, and Rotary, to name a few. "I’m very proud of our employees for their generous contributions of money and time, and their efforts to make a difference in the lives of so many people this year,” said Cavignac & Associates President and Principal Jeffrey Cavignac. “Double rewarding is the feedback I get from employees about how good it makes them feel to be in the position to help those who need it most.” Celia Mondfrans chaired the committee that selected recipient charities and determined the donation amounts for each. Other committee members included Sue Marberry, Susan McFarland, Jolinda Kramer, Jennifer Wise, Barbara Carter, Bethany Mongold, Bonne Mongold, Janis Theodore, and Rachel Boucher. Committee members wrapped gifts for the adopted families during their lunch hour last week and made arrangements for volunteers to deliver them. They also coordinated the volunteers who served dinners at the Senior Community Center. # # # About Cavignac & Associates: Founded in 1992, Cavignac & Associates is a leading risk management and commercial insurance brokerage firm providing a broad range of insurance and expertise to design and construction firms, as well as to law firms, real estate-related entities, manufacturing companies and the general business community.
