Dec. 28, 2011 - PRLog -- QUEENS, NY – NY-6 Congressional candidate Mike Scala released an article that opposes the proposed Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA). Scala is concerned with intellectual property protection however is troubled by the language of the bill. He challenges the constitutionality of the approach SOPA takes and the reality that the bill gives “the government unfettered authority to censor the Internet.“

Internet registrar Go Daddy’s support of SOPA has sparked a recent backlash and boycott. In Scala’s statement on SOPA he says of Go Daddy, “I was disappointed to learn that Go Daddy, the company my campaign site uses for domain registration services, was a SOPA supporter.  After a justified boycott of that company began, it has softened its stance on the bill.  However, I do not feel it has done enough to denounce its initial position.  It still mentions working to “craft revisions” of SOPA instead of defeating it completely.  As such, I have instructed my campaign to move www.scalaforcongress.com away from Go Daddy.”
