Follow on Google News | Veronikha Salazar is Hispanic Outreach CoordinatorArmstrong Atlantic State University recently hired Veronikha Salazar as the university’s new Hispanic Outreach and Retention Program Coordinator.
By: Brenda Forbis Before joining Armstrong, Salazar served as the Associate Director of the Multicultural Center at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. An accomplished educator, she is also a sought-after speaker on a range of issues relating to diversity. At the University of Arkansas, she earned the Outstanding Faculty Award/NAACP Image Award, was a nominee for the Heroes de Corazon Award for Outstanding Teacher and was named Most Outstanding University Faculty/Staff by Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. “We are thrilled to have such an experienced and knowledgeable individual assisting in our Latino outreach and retention efforts at Armstrong,” said Melody Rodríguez, Director of the HOLA Program at Armstrong Atlantic State University. “Veronikha will help expand our ongoing efforts to increase diversity at Armstrong.” Salazar is a member of the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education, American Association of University Women, Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society, Association of International Educators, National Council of La Raza and Phi Beta Delta Honor Society of International Scholars. Originally from Chiclayo, Peru, Salazar earned an Ed.D. in Adult Education with emphasis in Multicultural Education and Instructional Technology and an M.Ed. in Adult Education from the University of Arkansas. She also attended the Latino Higher Education Leadership Institute in San Diego, Calif. She recently relocated to Savannah. Salazar’s position at Armstrong is funded by a generous grant from The Goizueta Foundation, an Atlanta-based non-profit dedicated to assisting various organizations that empower others and enrich lives through educational opportunities. # # # Armstrong Atlantic State University, part of the University System of Georgia, was founded in 1935.
